Deputy commissioner of West Siang District in Arunachal assaulted

Four people were arrested for their alleged role in ransacking of building at Aalo last May.

The deputy commissioner of West Siang district was assaulted by four persons at his chamber after the district court rejected their bail pleas.

The police said the incident took place on Monday in the presence of the SP and police personnel during judicial hearing of a case relating to the alleged role of the four people in the ransacking of a building at Aalo last May.

SP Gyan Sambandan said that the DC suffered minor injuries during the assault.

The assaulters were immediately overpowered by security personnel and arrested under various provisions of law,he said.

Aalo,the district headquarter town,has been tensed for the last few days after a local organisation ‘Paktu Ao Youth Welfare Association’ called a 24-hour bandh to protest against failure by the district administration and the government to address their demands including suspension of civil works at government higher secondary school,Aalo and Nehru memorial higher secondary school,Puakgumin.
