  • A 27-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances in Milan, Italy, on Tuesday (July 28). Ramesh Kumar, a carpenter, migrated to Italy in September 2007. He was found dead on the banks of a river in Milan.

However, his family, which lives in Ward 13 in Dera Bassi, is still waiting for the body.

On July 28, Kumar’s father Madan Lal, who runs a saw mill here, got a call from a relative in Italy informing about the death.

“Since then, I have been requesting them to send the body, but our relative is expressing helplessness. He says the Italian police is not ready to give the body till the investigation is complete,” Lal says.

Kumar, according to his relative in Milan, went missing on July 26 after he left his apartment for work.

“We haven’t been told anything, even the reason behind the death,” Lal complains. Lal says he will request Union Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur, who is the MP from Patiala, to intervene in the matter.

Kumar is survived by his parents, a younger brother and three younger sisters.
