Opposition parties, Shiv Sena and BJP, on Sunday demanded resignations of Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil in the wake of terror attack that killed 195 and injured over 300 hundred.
"Both Deshmukh and Patil should own the moral responsibility and quit," Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe said.
"The state government is in a fix. Its days are numbered. Just replacing the state home minister would not help. Entire state government must go," Gorhe said.
Echoing similar views BJP general secretary Gopinath Munde said: "Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R R Patil should be sacked."
"The ruling party in the state must share the responsibility for the attacks," Munde said in a statement in Mumbai.
"Patil must quit. The attacks are the greatest failure of the law and order machinery," Munde said.
