Despite Anna,impeachment of Justice Sen on track in RS

The ruling Congress on Tuesday issued a three-line whip to its members to be present in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday when the motion for a discussion on the impeachment of Justice Soumitra Sen of the Calcutta High Court will get underway.

The Opposition has also resolved not to let its confrontation with the government over Anna Hazare impact this part of the business of the Upper House. It is a judicial function of the House, Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley explained.

The motion will be moved by CPM parliamentary party leader Sitaram Yechury. It says: This House resolves that an address be presented to the President for removal from office of Justice Soumitra Sen of the Calcutta HC on two grounds of misconduct: Misappropriation of large sums of money,which he received in his capacity as receiver appointed by the HC of Calcutta; and misrepresented facts with regard to the misappropriation of money before the HC of Calcutta.
