  • Orissa vhp rally
The MHA officials had apprehended that the rally might vitiate the already ‘tense’ situation in Kandhamal.
Despite cautionary words from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) over a scheduled Sangh Parivar rally on Saturday, over five lakh activists of the Parivar and sadhus would converge here on Saturday to protest against the state Government’s failure in nabbing the killers of VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati.

The MHA in a letter to the state Government had asked it to withhold its permission for the rally being organised by the Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati Shradhanjali Samiti on November 15, Orissa Home Secretary T K Mishra admitted. The MHA officials had apprehended that the rally might vitiate the already ‘tense’ situation in Kandhamal and elsewhere in the state. “The rally could create law and order problem and also affect restoration of peace in Kandhamal,” the letter had stated.

But Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has already angered the Sangh Parivar after he labeled the VHP a fundamentalist organisation, did not want to make his electoral ally unhappy and made sure that they got the permission to hold the rally. Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner B K Sharma said the rally has been allowed, but with some conditions. “We have allowed the rally on the conditions that no provocative slogans would be made during the speeches and there would be no display of weapons,” said Sharma.

The rally, to be attended by Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram national president Jagdeo Ram Oram, RSS central committee member Indresh Kumar, Ramvilash Vedanti of Ram Janmabhoomi movement and other Sangh Parivar leaders, will flay Patnaik’s efforts in hunting down the killers of Saraswati, who was gunned down on August 23 at his ashram in Jalespeta in Kandhamal district.

The Parivar which is getting increasingly restive over the CID’s go-slow approach in the investigation hopes to cash in on the anger in the Hindus in the aftermath of the killing. Samiti president Ratnakar Chaini alleged that the CM was appeasing the minority community and working under the pressure of the Church. He said while the Government made all efforts to nab the culprits in the nun rape case, the CID sleuths have not shown similar interest to arrest the killers of Saraswati even 85 days after his murder. He alleged that the Government is preventing people from attending the rally.

The Samiti would start distribution of lockets and pocket calendars carrying the photo of Saraswati from Saturday as part of the Parivar’s run-up to the Orissa Assembly and Lok Sabha polls next year. The Samiti plans to hold an Orissa bandh on December 25 over the Government’s failure in arresting the killers of the Swami.

As a preparation for Saturday’s rally, thousands of Hindu seers on Friday gathered here. More than 50,000 people from across the state and outside have reached the city while others would reach by Saturday morning. The rally will be preceded by a peace meet at 8.30 am, followed by namasankirtan between 10 and 11.30 am.

The rally would demand immediate arrest of killers and conspirators of Saraswati and four of his disciples, narco test of Congress Rajya Sabha member Radhakant Nayak, Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Diocese Archbishop Raphael Cheenath, National Integration Council member John Dayal.

AWAKENING HINDUSBy: KP PILLAI | 16-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward THE CONGRESS OR BIJU PATNAIK COULD NOW FORGET ABOUT ORISSA, AS IT IS ALREADY A BJP BASTION. THANKS TO THE PROPAGATORS OF CONVERSION; YOU ARE DOING YOUR JOB NICELY, CREATING SOCIAL DISORDERS AND PROMOTING AWARENESS AMONG THE HINDUS TO BECOME MORE FUNDAMENTALISTS. IT IS TO REMEMBER BY ALL INDIANS THAT IT WAS THE 87% OF HINDU POPULATION THAT AGREED INDIA TO BE A SECULAR COUNTRY, APPRECIATING THE PRESENCE OF SMALL MINORITIES. WILL THIS HAPPEN ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD? SO, IT WAS THE GOOD GESTURE OF HINDUS. BUT, AT THE NEHRU FAMILY PLAYED THE FAMILY POLITICS AND EVER SINCE THE DARLING CHRISTIAN BAHU OCCUPIED (THAT TOO THE FRUIT OF SECULARISM), THE HINDUS WERE PUT IN AT THE RECEIVING END. CHRISTIANS FROM KERALA ON THE STRENGTH OF MONEY AND BIBLE FAN INTO HINDU VILLAGES ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND ALLURING THE POORS. HOW LONG THIS WILL GO ON? STILL THE GOVT IS UNABLE TO MAKE A SOCIAL ORDER TO KEEP THIS PEOPLE AWAY FROM DOING SO. THE RESULT IS A RESURGING FEELING IN HINDUS !!

the centre has lost its neutral voiceBy: ashok pai | 15-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward congress is far from being neutral. by bringing up the sdhvi issue around the election time it has just lost its voice of neutrality. also congress seems to be toying with soft hindutva. which again is a bad idea. what else can you expect from the right wingers than to turn more towards the right ?worse still, they almost seem anti-people. when karnataka government asked for more power quote, they said go to chattisgarh! amazing lack of respect for people!
Red Indians Support Hindu IndiansBy: tecumseh | 15-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward I am an American visiting India. As a Red Indian of America Its really wonderful to see the natives standing up for their culture like the people in this article. In my country the natives were massacred. land taken, they were converted to xtianity and many times it was other natives that helped in the destruction of native culture. when the american (red) indians tried to stand up and organize themselves the media and others would accuse them of being troublemakers, malcontents, shameful bad indians etc. as an american Red Indian i feel sad for what happened to my people. so its really a good thing to see that at least here in India the hindus are making a stand for their ancient culture and religion. I hope they succeed and that the same forces that conquered us in the West fail in the East. Good luck and Mitake Oyasin. its our way of saying We are all One family...my hindu friend said that is vasudaiva kuthumbakam in his language.
keep out of itBy: Saccha Gujarati | 15-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward I don't think you are an american, but even if you are? Just keep away from our internal matter. this is a honest advise to you guys. Jai Hind
Bajrang dal, VHP and RSS should be banned or else our Hindu names will be destroyed.By: DHARAMNAL | 15-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Sir,out of a population of 1.3 billion even if these persons collect 5 lakh then also it is like a drop in the ocean.Last time when they went to Ayodhya then they had stated that the entire country is behind them, but only 600 persons showed up in their rallies all around India. I am a Hindu, I am really ashamed of the VHP, because they are behaving like Al-Qaida and they have become a role model for every criminal, who is ready to destry Mosques, burn Churches rape and kill mother or sister likes, they do not represent Hinduism, but they are behaving and acting like Al-Qaida. Not only they blot our Dharma, but they are blotting entire India around the world.
Hindu People can also defend and will not allow to break IndiaBy: D Mishra | 15-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward If you do not support these people go and defend yourself when there is bomb blast. If you go to these places and if you see the truth then you will make organization like these or join them. Hinduism is the oldest religion. No hindu will ever try to destroy it. Wake up and defend.
Bajrang dal, VHP and RSS should be banned or else our Hindu names will be destroyed. By: R.K Bharadwaj | 15-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Go to a peace loving religion like you have mentioned if you are ashamed as hindu. Hold your head high.
