Film-maker Anurag Kashyap is busy these days giving final touches to his latest venture 'Dev D' which is he feels is "very contemporary version of Devdas."
Very few novels have created the kind of curiosity among film-makers like Sarat Chandra's novel 'Devdas'. The bitter-sweet love-saga has become a history with the story of Devdas being depicted on the celluloid umpteen number of times.
However, this is perhaps the first time that any film-maker has attempted to make a film on modern version of 'Devdas'.
Kashayap feels that Devdas has now gone way beyond than just being a novel. "Devdas is not just a novel anymore, it is an adjective, Devdas is almost synonymous with love. It's a complete modern take on the book" says the film-maker.
Kashyap insists that the youth will be able to identify with the modern 'Dev' as it is an all-out commercial venture.
"'Dev D' is a youth centric film, a complete commercial venture. It has been shot in a whole lot of places Manali, Chandigarh, New Delhi and London," quips the film maker who is trying hard to shed his art-film-maker image. The film which will be released in February has been shot in Central Delhi.
