UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas and other officials of the Administration held a meeting with the office-bearers of Federation of Sectors Welfare Association, Chandigarh (FOSWAC) on Wednesday. The Home Secretary directed the chief architect to examine and clear the 52 amendments for CHB flats within four months and also examine the problem of industrial workers’ houses in Sector 30-B in consultation with the assistant estate officer.
Niwas also desired the problem of conversion of cheap houses from leasehold to freehold be looked into by the Deputy Commissioner at the earliest.
It was decided that the civic amenities in the southern sectors as well as the bus shelters in Sector 7, 32, 48 and 51 should be provided at the earliest along with time-tables of buses. Director (Transport) M L Sharma was directed to provide bus services from Sector 48 to 52 on V-4 roads.
It was also decided that facilities of a market, dispensary, school and a community centre should be planned for the southern sectors. Encroachments by scrap dealers from Palsora to the Mohali barrier in Sector 55 will also be removed. The Home Secretary also said that community centres and sehaj safai kendras should be planned and provided in each sector on priority basis along with widening of the V-6 and V-5 roads. Construction of pedestrian pathways on V-5 roads in Sector 21 will be taken up and the possibility of developing an additional parking space in Sector 21 market will also be explored.
