The Independence Day celebrations at Rajpipla, the Narmada district headquarters, will be marked by the dedication of as many as 1,214 developmental projects to the people of the tribal-dominated district, and also the launch of 379 new schemes.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Governor S C Jamir are scheduled to reach Rajpipla on August 14, where both the dignitaries will attend a public function. On August 15, Modi will unfurl the tricolour and address a gathering at Rajpipla.
Giving details of the state-level Independence Day celebrations, government spokespersons Jay Narayan Vyas and Saurabh Patel said here on Thursday that the various developmental projects worth Rs 350 crore would be launched, covering as many as 612 villages of four talukas of the Narmada district.
Vyas said that the CM would distribute a loan, worth Rs 83 crore, among over 98,000 tribal beneficiaries under the government’s Vanbandhu Yojana, and also land title documents to tribal farmers under the Forest Rights Act on the eve of
the Independence Day. Besides, he would dedicate a district-level sports complex built in the Rajpipla town to the people.
On August 14, Modi will participate in religious rituals at a historic temple perched on the Narmada river
banks near Garudeshwar, and also attend a cultural programme featuring the tribal culture and heritage in the region.
As many as eight public rallies on environment, cleanliness, woman empowerment, consumer protection, citizens’ rights and “save the girl child” will also be organised in the town as part of the ID celebrations.
