With huge funds received recently, the district administration is all set to undertake development works in the rural areas soon. Besides National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), the district administration received huge rural development funds for the development of rural areas falling in the district.
The district administration has recently received a big grant of funds worth Rs 19 crore for the rural development of the areas in the jurisdiction of the Ludhiana district and this is in addition to the funds under NREGA, reveal district administration officials.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Vikas Garg said, “After receiving the funds for the development of rural areas, we have started an exercise to identify areas which urgently need development works to be undertaken.”
He said that the district administration was working hard to utilise these funds in a most appropriate manner.
“Besides the administration also recently received funds over Rs 70 lakh under NREGA for the villages in the district,” said deputy commissioner Garg, adding that this was the first installment NREGA funds received during this financial year.
The deputy commissioner said that besides, the work would soon start for construction of the southern bye-pass along Sidhwan canal. “The work has already been allotted for the execution and it is expected to take off soon,” Garg added.
