It was the strong urge to pursue her dream of becoming a singer that saw Kavita Mathrani, who worked with the corporate sector, to give up her job and do it. Choosing to tread a road less travelled Mathrani has cut her maiden album 'Kripa Karo Bhagwan' – a collection of nine devotional songs, which was released two weeks back

Having had a warm and encouraging welcome to the country's music circuit she says, "I have always wanted to be like Lata ji. When I was in class five, I hated history and I would tell my mother to take me out of the school I went to, and put me into a school where I can become like Lata Mangeshkar," says Mathrani adding, "Since this is my first album, I wanted to dedicate it to the almighty. I am looking forward to playback singing and live shows too."

The debutant was encouraged to venture into the music industry by her guru, Purushuttam Das Jalota. "When I was working in Mumbai, I would come to Pune by the morning train to learn from Guruji Jalota and go back by the evening train. He told me to approach Anup Jalota for my music album. The Jalota family has helped me a lot through my struggle to fulfil my dreams as a vocalist," she says.

The nine songs in the album are all dedicated to Hindu deities. "There are two songs on Lord Shiva, Lord Ram, Sai Baba and Lord Krishna and one song on Lord Brahma. I had visited the temple of Lord Brahma, called Pushkar in February. We have made videos of all the songs," she says. For the launch of her album, renowned names from the music industry were present to lend their support to Mathrani like, Anup Jalota, Ravindra Jain, Poonam Dhillon, Dharmesh Tiwari, Yogesh Lakhani and more. The music for her album is composed by Anup Jalota while Raajesh Johri and Sheela Jha have worked on the lyrics
