After a long delay, Maharashtra government ministers will be sworn in on Friday.

The Congress-NCP ministry in Maharashtra may be sworn in on Friday, a fortnight after Assembly results were declared, following resolution of differences over portfolio allocation between the alliance partners.

"At the meetings held in Delhi, the differences over sharing portfolios, including the number of ministries to be held by each party, have been sorted out and the new government looks set to be sworn in at Raj Bhawan here tomorrow," NCP sources said.

Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and Ahmad Patel, political secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, played a key role in resolution of the differences between the two parties, the sources said while declining to reveal the details of the compromise formula reached in Delhi.

Patel had last night told reporters in the national capital that the impasse will end on a positive note by today. Governor S C Jamir had on Tuesday summoned caretaker Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal for consultations, telling them it was their responsibility to form a government without delay.

The Governor had reminded Chavan and Bhujbal that since the Maharashtra electorate had given them a fresh mandate, it was their responsibility to respect it and complete the exercise of government formation without further waste of time.

dogfight in maharashtraBy: raj | 06-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Poiticians are in politics for one reason and that is to grab political office and steal money. It does not matter what party they belong to, they are all thieving criminals. They all keep and patronize goondas to grab votes and also to protect their rotten hides because a criminal has to protect himself or herself from people he or she has wronged. What you have just seen in Maharashtra is a fight between street dogs for juicy pieces of meat. You are being ruled over by hungry stray dogs.

DF Govt in Maha shuold work hard to remove bad impression left on ppl's mind due to delay in oathBy: real bharatiya | 05-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward After all, it was no good developement in the democracy. The delay in taking oath shows politics opportunitism which does not suit congress ideology. Now, to remove bad impression left on ppl's mind, DF (Democratic Front) should provide clean politics by fulfilling commitment they promissed to the ppl before elections. We wish a very bright future to the ppl of Maha. Cong needs to shut mouth of Narendra Modi who is boasting development of Guj. Guj is small state compare to Maha & Guj & Maha are among developed states since their existance.
