DGCA tells A-I, IA to form common manual in 3 months

  • The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has extended technical approval to Air India for carrying out maintenance works for its aircraft and those of others as well.

    The DGCA extension is for three months until March 31. By then, Air India and the erstwhile Indian would have merged their separate manuals for their maintenance organisations.

    The DGCA has directed the two merged airlines to form a common manual in three months. The Directorate has to approve the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) manual before airlines can carry out maintenance works on its own.

    Meanwhile, a high-level meeting chaired by the Civil Aviation Secretary Ashok Chawla was held on Tuesday to review flight operations at the IGI Airport.

    The effect of the recent DGCA directive calling for exclusive runways for landing and take off operations and the progress made on the Delhi airport were also discussed at the meet.
