DGP Srivastava bids farewell to police force

The Director General of Police (DGP), Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, took his last salute on Friday after serving for 37 years in Indian Police. Srivastava, a 1985 batch officer of the Indian Police Services was promoted to the post of DGP on August 29, 2012.

"There are ups and downs in every organization. All I suggest to you as an elder is that you be together and work cohesively. You are a very competent police force. Any differences that you have must be sorted out," he said, while addressing the Chandigarh Police force.

He also said, "I have very good memories of my time spent in Chandigarh. There are many things that I am proud of, many projects that I have started. You will notice the results of these not just now, but a few years from now. I have tried my best to make the Chandigarh Police self-dependent and more efficient".

Enumerating the achievements of the DGP, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, RS Gumman said, "I have served many postings under PK Srivastava. He has done remarkable work in all the places where he had been posted".

Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Alok Kumar, who has been given the additional charge of DGP till a regular posting is done said, "PK Srivastava has been the most staff-friendly boss. I have enjoyed working with him and he will be missed in the Police Department".

Achievements

In all the places that he had been posted, the DGP had emphasized on infrastructural development. The DGP told Newsline, "Town planning and infrastructure development is a hobby and I enjoyed doing it at all the places I have been to."

Srivastava had been involved in the development of a technologically sound Police Control Room at Delhi which helped in curbing terrorism. At his posting in Andaman and Nicobar, he promoted the tribes to bring them at par with other communities.
