CAST: Muzamil Ibrahim, Tulip Joshi, Anupam Kher, Astutosh Rana, Gulshan Grover

    DIRECTOR: Pooja Bhatt

A young idealistic Mumbai cop who just happens to be Muslim wakes up one morning to find his world in tatters. Incontrovertible evidence at a crime scene points to the fact that his beloved wife was a suicide bomber, responsible for taking several lives. He is in denial, to begin with. And then, as he digs deeper, dark secrets come tumbling out.

Pooja Bhatt’s film is about a real issue, and that's its core strength. Liberal thinking Muslims, like Inspector Zayed (Muzamil) are always on the mat, always being asked to proved their nationalistic credentials in these increasingly communally charged times. Cop brutality is a fact: one of the most powerful scenes in the movie belongs to Anupam Kher and Tulip Joshi, as he is forced to watch his daughter’s humiliation and rape at the hands of a policeman (Ashutosh) and his leering companions.

But the film doesn’t get where it should have, because of its banal patches, both in the acting, and the directing.
