  • “I think if they are supposed to come out, it’s better (that) we have live television in the room there. What happens, nobody should know apart from the eight guys who are sitting down.”

He added such leaks were detrimental for the game. “It would be good for Indian cricket if you quote that person,” he said.

Disagreements between captains and selectors are not uncommon but this is the first time such an incident has become public soon after a meeting raising a debate over what say a captain should have in picking his team.

RP Singh was part of the Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka tours but ended up making way for Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel and Ishant Sharma in the playing XI. In two one-dayers against England this month, he gave away 74 runs for one wicket from nine overs. Irfan last played a Test in April and was dropped from the side after failing to impress in the ODIs in Sri Lanka. In the Ranji season so far, he has 12 wickets in two matches.

Dhoni is rightBy: Sanjin | 23-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward I think Dhoni is right in this case. Reporter should mention the name of the source. Because only 8 people are present in the meeting and it was leaked by one of them. Reporter should mentioned the source for such a serious issue. Dhoni as a captain of India have every right to do say. Because ultimately he , who going to face the music.
Dhoni 'disgusted' over leak of rift with selectors.By: Dr. F.S.K. Barar | 23-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the Captain of the Team India, and as such he is the person responsible for the performance of the team. So why should he be denied the privilege of finally selecting his team? The old fogies in the Selection Committee should respect his verdict above all for two reasons: first he is the Captain, and second he knows his players the best, not the people occupying comfortable chairs in the pavillion, or glued to air-conditioned chambers of the BCCI. It appears that washing dirty clothes in public is a habit with the BCCI, and leakages are the rule of the day. So nothing is confidential even behind the metaphoric closed door meetings. After such happenings noboday plays attention to the fault, but the 'blame game' comes into pay, with debates as to who did it? at best it boils down to that it should not have been done. Then the 'truthful' doers again repeat the mistake with confidence. There appears to be little scope for good sense to prevail in these matters.
Any decision should make senseBy: Vijay | 23-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward If Dhoni wants to resign, let him do it !! India is not winning because of Dhoni. RP Singh sucks ...his fielding was horrible, his bowling is the worst. Dhoni has to keep his friendship outside the game.
