Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said a campaign, highlighting the achievements of the government, needs to be launched to win the elections. He asked the workers to focus efforts on better coordination instead of pointing fingers at each other.
Addressing a day-long workers’ meet to gear up party’s rank and file for elections, he asked the workers not to leave any opportunity to put the achievements of the BJP up on the pedestal for everyone to see and at the same time highlight the “failures” of the Congress led UPA government.
“We should remember that in a democratic set-up, the public has the maximum power and our workers should realise the importance of the electorate in forming the government,” he said.
Focusing on the role of grass roots workers, the Chief Minister said that a handful of dedicated workers can ensure the rival’s defeat. This time the target is to win the seats with a record margin and the workers should realise their duties towards the organisation and government, he said.
“Since the government has fulfilled more than 80 per cent of its poll promises, more efforts should be made to educate the masses about the welfare schemes launched during the past BJP rule. The achievements should be converted into votes and each worker should ensure a respectable lead at his polling booth,” he said. In the 1999 elections, the party had secured lead in 64 assembly segments out of 68. “People should be awakened about the divide and rule policy of Congress in the name of secularism. Beside, the workers should discuss government’s achievements in every social function,” he said.
