The three-day visit of Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to Rohru Assembly constituency from Tuesday is set to boost the BJP’s campaign. His tours and public meetings in the last phase will cover eight prime locations of the Congress stronghold.
Anticipating the CM’s visit, the Congress has also restructured its strategy by sending Union Minister of Steel Virbhadra Singh from Jawali to Rohru to hold the fort for party candidate Manjeet Singh Thakur.
Earlier, Virbhadra was scheduled to campaign at Jawali till November 5, when the campaign ends before the November 7 byelections.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to visit Pujarli III, Lower Koti , Chapoti, Summerkot, Devidhar, Chirgaon, Masli and Kutara. He will interact with party workers at Rohru on November 5. BJP candidate Khushi Ram Balnatah will accompany the CM during his meetings.
The BJP’s campaign is being handled by nearly 35 teams, headed by leaders, party MLAs, government ministers and office-bearers of the Yuva Morcha.
In the last few days of campaigning, the party has graduated from the strategy of invoking an ‘emotional appeal’, where it talked of giving a last chance to Balnatah, who is contesting for the fifth time. Now, the leaders are requesting people to make a smart choice for the next three years of the present BJP government.
“I am now asking people not to think about what a party has done for them in the past. I ask them to think about the future and the advantage of being in direct touch with the government for next three years”, said Balnatah.
