In yet another letter pleading for adequate security for him and his family,IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt on Monday wrote to the state Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Balwant Singh and the Supreme Court’s amicus curiae for the 2002 Gujarat riots cases,Raju Ramachandran, that no adequate security has been provided to him despite the state government’s assurance to the SC during the hearing last week.

Bhatt, whose official car was withdrawn earlier, also urged in the letter that he be allowed a bullet-proof car since “the threat to me and my family is likely to increase considerably in the days to come”.

Meanwhile, police sources said the official procedure, including the mandatory review of the threat assessment report prepared on Bhatt by the local police inspector, has not been done, causing the assessment report to lie “useless and unoperationalised”.
