  • The Le Corbusier Centre’s Library is getting digitalized

By this Baisakhi, digitalization of the library will be complete and would enable art lovers to access the select collection online. With over 1,000 works of arts and rare photographs, historic documents which speak of the city’s development and personal pictures of the master architect himself dotting the proud collection at the centre, the effort of digital documentation of the prized works is bound to bring a smile on the faces of the artists, architects, scholars and students across the world. Enthusiastic about his new project, Director of the Centre, DR V N Singh feels, “Selected works from our collections including paintings, letters and photographs will be put on the website of the Le Corbusier Centre so that these can be accessed online. The projects has been envisaged by the Chandigarh Administration and we have set aside Rs five lakh that would be incurred on the project.” While the Centre cherishes its collection, more pieces of art and photographs are being donated by the admirers of Le Corbusier from the world over. The enthusiasm isn’t misplaced after all, for the Chandigarh Centre is the only third such Centre after Paris and Zurich to exhibit artefacts close to Corbusier’s life. “This is the biggest permanent exhibition of Le Corbusier’s works in the world,” reads the remarks of C Preleronzo, Secretary General of Le Corbusier Foundation, Paris in the visitors’ book.
