Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday said BJP president Nitin Gadkari should learn about parliamentary affairs and institutions before making comments on the Prime Minister.
“Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior BJP leader and PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi have better knowledge of parliamentary affairs and institutions than Gadkari who needs to learn about them,” Singh said in a statement here.
Singh was reacting to Gadkari’s recent newspaper interview in which he had said that the Prime Minister did not have knowledge of parliamentary affairs and Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The senior Congress leader demanded that a resolution for breaching parliamentary privilege should be brought against Gadkari for saying that the PAC has limited powers.
Describing the Prime Minister’s offer to appear before the PAC in connection with 2G spectrum scam as a “historical step”,Singh said that no Prime Minister in independent India has offered to appear before the PAC.
