Digvijaya slams Modi model of development,says Gujarat CM lacks ‘guts’ to face a debate

Digvijaya said he expected abuses from Modi supporters in reaction to his comment.

Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Saturday fired another salvo directed at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi,questioning his model of development in Gujarat.

Quoting a study based on the “Tendulkar methodolgy”,the Congress leader claimed that the decline in poverty in Modi’s state was low. Digvijaya posted a tweet saying,“Decline in poverty (Tendulkar Methodology) is lowest. Another example of poor Gujarat Model of Development.”

The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister further said that he expected abusive words from the supporters of the Gujarat chief minister in reaction to his criticism for Modi’s model of development.

Digvijaya also went on to challenge the BJP PM candidate for a debate,but added that Modi lacked the “guts to face a debate”.

In another tweet,the Congress general secretary said,“Expecting another volley of “Galis” from Modi Acolytes ! Would Modi agree for a debate on Development ? He lacks GUTS to face Debate !”

The attack by Digvijaya comes on a day when Modi is slated to launched BJP’s election campaign in Uttar Pradesh with a grand rally in Kanpur. According to reports,Kalyan Singh is also expected to speak at Modi’s rally in Kanpur.
