Charming the audience with her impeccable acting skills for nearly a decade now, and with a Filmfare Award behind her, Sahnewal-born Divya Dutta will now be seen rooting for Ludhiana Gullies, the team from Ludhiana for the shortest format of cricket T10 Gully cricket which is into its second season.
The chirpy actress has been signed by Reasonable Communications, the organiser of the tournament which starts on September 19. Best remembered for her supporting role in the film Veer Zara in 2004, Dutta announced her ownership of the Ludhiana team on Saturday here “India is a cricket-crazy nation and I am a huge cricket fan and love cricket very much,” she said, adding that she grabbed the opportunity to patronise the team as soon as it landed in her lap.
16 teams will be selected from different cities of the countries which clash for the title in season two of Gully cricket in October-November.
“It comes as no surprise that I am patronising this team, since I come from Ludhiana. Unlike other formats, which have recently come up in cricket, in T10, we are focusing on youngsters who have talent by giving them good kits, pitches and an exposure to hone their skills,” Divya stated.
Confident of winning Dutta said that the Ludhiana team performed well in the first season and now I will ensure we bag the winner’s title this time. The actress also made it amply clear that she will be doing much more than just holding news conferences and try to promote her team.
