Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL) on Saturday made the DND flyway toll free during peak hours till February 22 for people moving towards the national capital from Noida, following a request by the police in this regard to prevent long traffic jams.
NTBCL, which manages the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway, after a discussion with Noida police made the announcement.
"For Noida to Delhi route, toll will be free from 9 AM to 10 AM and 5 PM to 7 PM," NTBCL spokesperson said.
DND flyover will be toll free for commercial vehicles, they, however, will have to pay the MCD toll, the spokesperson said adding, "Toll from Delhi to Noida will be charged as usual."
The toll free schedule on Noida to Delhi route will remain effective till February 22, he said.
The decision was taken as the Kalindi Kunj Yamuna Bridge has been closed on Noida to Delhi route for repair work till February 22, forcing the authorities to divert the traffic to DND flyway which led to long traffic jams at Noida toll plaza and in the city.
Police had yesterday requested the DND flyway operator to make it toll free during the peak hours.
