Dr Rahul Samarpal Singh Deshwal, 30, a resident doctor at St George Hospital who was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 23-year-old MBBS student, blackmailed and raped several other girls, the victim has alleged. Police said it would investigate the fresh allegations.

“In her statement the victim has alleged that the accused had victimised some other girls the same way he had lured her. In the next few days we will be visiting the campus to collect more information on the above. If some other girls also approach us with similar allegations against the accused, our case will undoubtedly become stronger,” a police official said.

Deshwal’s laptop, cell phone and pen drive have been sent to the Cyber Crime Cell for screening and his clothes to the Forensic Science Laboratory, Inspector Kalpana Pawar said.

“The accused allegedly raped the girl repeatedly between May 2008 and March 2009. The first time, Deshwal allegedly spiked her drink and clicked naked photos of her. Threatening to send the pictures to her relatives, he would torture and rape her and then then promise to marry her. However, nearly a month ago, he showed her a photo of his fiancée. The victim then approached the police,” a police official said.

Deshwal denied the charges before Magistrate V V Shrikhande on Wednesday. “He (Deshwal) has been reiterating that she wanted a better future (by marrying him) and when he refused, she levelled these allegations,” said an official. The court sent him to police custody till July 14.
