In November 2007,Dola Banerjee won gold in the individual recurve event at the archery World Cup in Dubai. Since then, she has struggled to finish on the podium, and is being guided by head coach of the recurve team Limba Ram. Banerjee still recalls her first interaction with Limba Ram as a nine-year-old girl, when she and her Baranagar Archery Club colleagues met the star in Kolkata in 1990. Hes been a great help. For me he is still Limba bhai. I know him since 1990. He is calm and polite and that helps everybody. He understands our problems as he himself was an archer once, Banerjee says. Banerjee agrees her form and confidence went haywire after 2007. Lot of things crop up in your mind once you start struggling. I was more curious about how everybody else were shooting rather than concentrating on my own game. But thats past. I am feeling a lot better these days and I am ready for the challenges that lie ahead, the 28-year-old adds. Confidence running high The 12-member India team for the World Archery Championship in Ulsan,Korea,is confident of a good show, with assistant coach Dharmender Tiwary saying,Our recurve mens team is in top form. Any of the three Jayanta,Rahul Banerjee and Mangal Singh Champia can win us medals in individual as well as team events. We even have hopes from the compound team to do well this time.
