Domestic help alleges rape, Central Water Commission director held

The Director of the Central Water Commission has been arrested on the charge of raping his 40-year-old domestic help.
The woman alleged that Manjit Singh Dhillon, a resident of L Block in Vikaspuri in West Delhi, had promised to marry her and had threatened her against informing anyone about the incident.
Police said Dhillon was arrested on Friday after the woman approached the Vikaspuri police station with a complaint. Both Manjit and the woman are divorcees.
Based on the woman's complaint, police said Dhillon had employed her a year ago to look after his 80-year-old ailing mother.
"The complainant has two children — an eight-year-old daughter who lives with her and a 14-year-old daughter who lives with her ex-husband. When she came to Delhi,
she was initially staying at Dhillon's residence and looking after his mother. She has alleged that Dhillon would rape her repeatedly and threaten her against speaking about it to anyone," a senior police officer said.
Police said two months ago, Dhillon's mother filed a complaint against the domestic help claiming that she had tried to grab their property.
Subsequently, the woman moved out to a rented accommodation in Vikaspuri.
Dhillon was paying the rent, police said.
The woman also alleged that despite her moving out, Dhillon would either call her over to his place or go to her house and rape her.
A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Vikaspuri police station.
