Making a strong pitch for deepening ties with India, China Monday said that Sino-Indian relations should not be affected by "noise" by "some parties", which is intended to undermine bilateral ties. Peace at the borders has not come easy and it took strong efforts to maintain the same, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo told National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon here.
"The two countries should have a clear idea about some parties' intentions of undermining bilateral ties... There is more consensus than differences, and more cooperation than competition, between China and India," he told Menon.
Chinese analysts often point to the US and Japan's efforts to improve ties with India as part of a strategy to contain Beijing.
Menon and Dai, designated Special Representatives to resolve boundary differences, held three rounds of talks Monday. Dai told Menon he is among the first foreign dignitaries to visit Beijing after the Communist Party leadership change, signifying the importance China attaches to India.
