A notorious criminal,wanted in over 36 cases,was shot dead in Ghaziabad today after a fierce encounter which also left four policemen injured. Ravindra Tyagi,who carried a reward of Rs 50,000,was fleeing after looting a Honda City Car when an SOG team chased him following a tip-off and killed him after an encounter at the Mohan Nagar crossing under Sahibabad police station,ADG (law and order) A K Jain said. Four policemen including Station Incharge Anil Kaparwan and three constables received injuries,Jain said,adding that Kaparwan and constable Paramjit Singh who had suffered gun shot injuries were being operated upon at a local hospital. A carbine and a pistol were recovered from the slain criminal besides the looted car,Jain added.
