Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara admitted on Sunday that dropping out-of-form Sanath Jayasuriya was a tough call but added that he had to take the decision keeping the right combination in mind. Sometimes youve got to accept it whether its fair or unfair, Sangakkara said, ahead of the third one-dayer. As a captain, whether its a senior player or a new player (you are dropping),it doesnt matter. Its the team combination that matters. The captain can be direct,or can be subtle. At the end of the day,how you take it shows your character. Jayasuriya played in the opening ODI at Rajkot, where he scored just five runs, and was subsequently left out for the Nagpur one-dayer,which the Lankans won and leveled the series 1-1. While Sangakkara maintained Jayasuriya did stand a chance of making it back to the playing XI,he said the teams interest, and not an individuals reputation, would come first. Its always a tough decision when it comes to dropping guys like Sanath who is a legend. But then one has to think about the country and look forward. Its the right combination that matters, and that is most important. Meanwhile,stand-in Indian skipper said the team needed to come up with an improved show in the field even as he defended fielding consultant Mike Young, saying the American should be given more time. The players need some time to get used to the new fielding coach. Lets not blame him (Young) for poor fielding. Hes a good man and hes doing his best, Sehwag said. Both he as well as the boys will take some time to adjust. We need to do well in all departments, and fielding is specially important here. We didnt do well in the last match,we need to work really hard and get better. Sanga hints at Kings XI role CUTTACK: Kumar Sangakkara said he is yet to be formally intimated about a change of guard by the Kings XI Punjab,Sangakkara indicated that he is ready to lead the Mohali team in the Indian Premier Leagues third season, provided Yuvraj Singh is not the captain.
