Drugs grant hiked for health centres

The financial allocation for the state's 1,486 Public Health Centres and Community Health Centres to buy drugs has been increased by more than double so that "every person in the rural areas can get access to medicines free-of-charge", according to the Health and Family Welfare Department. In a Government Resolution, the state Health Department termed as "outdated" the last grants for these health facilities. The department said it has approved an additional allocation of Rs 25.65 crore, 80% of which would come from the state's Central Medical Stores Organisation.
