Due to the on-going dry weather, the city hospitals and OPDs are brimming with patients suffering from viral fever, typhoid and nasal allergies etc. Moreover the pollution levelled raised by bursting of crackers on Diwali has further added to the health problems.
Dr Navnit Kaur, Emergency Medical Officer of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Model Town, said, “We have been receiving cases of high fever, typhoid and gastroentritis in the emergency ward. Most of the patients, who reported with these compaints were either children or youngsters.”
Dr Rajinder Gulati, a paediatrician from ESI Hospital, said, “We are getting maximum parents suffering from respiratory problems and of typhoid. Due to dry weather, the patients are mainly suffering from allergic problems. The people should avoid out-door activities or should wear masks to avoid allergic problems.”
Dr Harkamal Sidhu, Head of Medicine Department of BL Memorial Kapoor Hospital, said, “We are getting many patients suffering from high fever. Although only a few have been admitted, but hospotal OPD is flooded with such patients.”
Dr Sunil Aggarwal, a leading homeopath of the city, said, “The dry weather always increases allergic problems. One should take precautions from any type of smell which is irritating. The mask can come in handy in keeping nasal allergies at bay.”
