The Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) came under fire from one of its clubs for allegedly missing a deadline the Capital’s football association would have wanted its affiliated teams to follow. According to City FC joint secretary Mohammad Sajid, the DSA accepted and forwarded the transfer papers of at least seven players on July 2, two days after the June 30 deadline, for Tarun Sangha.
“The federation is too weak to operate. Instead of rejecting the transfer papers from Tarun Sangha, they accepted and this happened in front of two managing committee members. Six-seven players were allowed to avail the inter-club transfers that ended on June 30,” Sajid said.
Tarun Sangha secretary Bibhash Maity refuted the allegations saying they had completed the paperwork on June 30. “The papers we submitted to the DSA on July 2 were those for players on loan. We got all our inter-club transfers cleared by the IFA on June 30,” Maity said.
DSA, however, accepted that they had approved the papers after the deadline had elapsed. “There are problems in the receipt of papers through post. Clubs wrap up the paperwork on June 30 itself. So, the papers might take some time reaching us. We received some papers today. This was exactly the case with Tarun Sangha,” DSA secretary NK Bhatia said.
