After taking on the construction of low-cost houses in the city on behalf of Delhi Government,the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) officials said the organization will now venture into the construction of green buildings as well as schools and other infrastructure projects in the Capital. DSIIDC has been awarded the contract for the construction of the extension building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Hauz Khas in South Delhi,which will be the first green building to be constructed by the organisation. To come up at a cost of Rs 40 crore in the next two years,the new building of NIFT will comprise of an academic building,a fashion centre,hostels,a multi-purpose basement along with an auditorium with a seating capacity for 250 people. According to Chetan Sanghi MD,DSIIDC,the building design has considered the climatic conditions in Delhi,the flow of natural light,ventilation with energy conservation as the key with the use of the latest energy saving fixtures. While approaching the fashion centre,visitors will be face-to-face with the fashion pod which houses the seminar hall. Connectivity will be provided with the existing building,Sanghi said.
