The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to the Delhi government for not complying with a direction from anti-corruption body Lokayukta to produce on record documents relating to purchase of 625 low-floor CNG buses for the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The order passed by a Division Bench led by Chief Justice A P Shah came on a challenge by Lokayukta against an earlier verdict by a Single Bench that had barred the anti-corruption body from seeking any government records on purchase of the buses. Justice S Ravinder Bhat had last month directed the Lokayukta to consider the objections raised by the government against producing the documents before deciding on the complaint filed by a BJP activist alleging corruption in the purchase of buses. Justice Bhat also said Lokayukta should settle the rules and procedures before going ahead with any complaint of such nature. The court observed that Lokayukta should not seek verification of documents without finding a prima facie case following the complaint. In an order on January 28,Manmohan Sarin had served an ultimatum to the Transport Secretary to produce documents relating to the purchase of non-AC low-floor buses.
