DU set to introduce B Tech in Innovation

Classes for the 4-year B Tech/ BS course in Innovation with Mathematics and IT will begin by September 15. According to the approved proposal,the first batch is to have 40 students and admission to the course is to be done on the basis of an aptitude test. A notice launching the course will be out by the middle of next week,University vice-chancellor Dinesh Singh said.

However,on the charges,he said that certain general statements in the preamble of the proposal were used that had been used in the websites of reputed Universities.

The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has condemned the approval accorded to the proposal. On Friday the DUTA had called an emergency meeting and directed the 26 elected teacher representatives in DUAC to express their dissent at the Council meeting.

We have no objection to the opening of a new centre but all procedure has been violated in this case. No committee was formed to prepare the proposal and course syllabus for the proposed centre most of which has been found to be copied from websites of other Universities.

Nizamuddin went to the US in December 2015 for a Master’s course in Computer Science, which he completed from Florida Institute of Technology in 2017. He completed his B.Tech in ECE from Jayaprakash Narayan College of Engineering, Mahbubnagar.
