Dubai murder case: Blood money paid to save eight Indians

Dubai-based hotelier and businessman S P Singh Oberoi,has paid the money on behalf of those jailed.

The case involving eight Indians jailed in Dubai for a murder is likely to be settled as the blood money has been paid to the victim’s father.

Dubai-based hotelier and businessman S P Singh Oberoi,who has paid the money on behalf of those jailed,said the three judge jury in Sharjah’s Shariah court were handed over the compromise papers.

The judgment is scheduled to be delivered on February 6.

“We arranged the visit of the victim Mumtaz Yusuf’s father Mohd Yusuf to Dubai. He appeared in the court and said that he has pardoned those involved,” Oberoi told the court.

Other documents were also handed over,he said.

Oberoi had also recently visited Punjab to apprise the families of those involved about the developments in the case.

On January 4,the Punjabi youths were sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for periods varying from 10 years to life.

Oberoi said families of these men were not even aware of their whereabouts till the case of 17 Indians convicted for the murder of a Pakistani man hit headlines early last year.
