DyCMO death: Case of murder filed on wife’s complaint

A case of murder was filed in mysterious death of Deputy CMO Y S Sachan in a jail.

A case of murder was on Sunday filed in the mysterious death of Deputy Chief Medical Officer Y S Sachan in a jail here on his wife’s complaint even as a top official called it a case of ‘homicide and not suicide’,discounting the UP Police theory.

“An FIR under section 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) has been lodged at Gosaiganj police station against unidentified persons on an application moved by Sachan’s wife Malti Sachan,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Lucknow D K Thakur said.

Thakur said that the FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint sent by Malti Sachan to the station officer through speed post.

The main accused in the murder of Chief Medical Officer (Family Welfare) B P Singh,52-year-old Sachan was found dead under mysterious circumstances in jail hospital toilet on Wednesday night after which the government ordered a judicial probe into the incident and suspended five jail staffers,including a jailor.

His post mortem report revealed nine injury marks on the body including on neck,elbow,thigh and wrist.

The DIG maintained that “the case will be investigated only after the judicial probe is over…. Both the probes cannot be conducted parallelly.”

Meanwhile,Y S Pathak,Joint Director,UP Medico- Legal Department,claimed that all the wounds on Sachan’s body could not have been inflicted by him and prima facie it looked to be a case of homicide and not suicide.

“Injury No 9 could not have been self-inflicted. It was caused by other persons after Sachan’s death. It was inflicted to make the case appear as suicide.

“His body was hanged to make it look like suicide. All the wounds could not have been inflicted by Sachan himself.

Prima facie it is a case of homicide and not suicide,” Pathak said.
