North Zone bowed out of the Deodhar Trophy after crashing to a 65-run defeat to East Zone in a Group A match Saturday. Chasing 305,they folded up for 240 in 49.4 overs, conceding a bonus point.

East Zone will have to merely deny Central a bonus point when they meet each other on Monday to qualify for the final. In another match Arjun Yadav (71) and Ravichandran Ashwin (50 not out) helped South Zone register a three-wicket win over Zimbabwe Presidents XI.

Manhas lashes out

North Zone skipper Mithun Manhas lashed out at the scheduling. We played a tough match against Central Zone yesterday and didnt get any time to recover or regroup. Playing back-to-back matches in this heat is a tough ask. They have kept an off day tomorrow. They could have easily slotted our second match on Sunday, Manhas said. West,Central,East and Zimbabwe all are getting a day off after their openers. Only we and South are made to play back-to-back matches, he added.
