“Ek Bachcha apnaao, desh ko khushhaal banao” is the slogan which the Noble Foundation Trust, an NGO, has adopted to serve underprivileged children.
Rajinder Kumar Sharma, founder chairman of the NGO said, “The trustees do not want any other donation or financial help. They would only like the donors to adopt a child and take care of his or her educational and medical facilities. Feedback regarding the child would be given to the donor from time to time. The donor can even meet the child every second Saturday in school.” Sponsors interested in footing the cost of education and medical care can donate Rs 1,500 per year per child.
Sharma said, “There are more than 1,300 children studying in eight schools being run under the Ma Sharda Vidyapeeth by the Noble Foundation Trust. We have been working for these children since four years. There are five schools in Ludhiana, one at Jalalabad, one at Guruharsahay and one at Abohar. These children are taught by 28 teachers, who are paid a nominal amount by trust.”
About the future plans, the Trust members said, “We are in communication with a few banks, so that the recurring accounts of about 200 migrants of Bihari Colony could be opened with just Rs 50 in each case. We’re going to appoint a doctor soon for providing medical facilities to the children and residents. The doctor will visit one of these schools daily and conduct free medical check-ups to area residents for a fee of Rs 10 from each.”
