ISTRA at Azam Campus
In the age of rapid transformation and communications,the need for interdisciplinary programmes in science and research hold a key position due to realisation that the traditional disciplines are unable to address many important and relevant problems. The Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society,an educational institute in the city having 18 independent academic and professional institutions under it,has announced of “Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Research Academy (ISTRA)” at Azam Campus. The ISTRA was recently inaugurated by the MCSE society president P A Inamdar. S. B. Padhye will lead the activities of the ISTRA which has a membership of 50 research faculty and students drawn from 8 faculties and departments on campus. Explaining the utility of such an academy,Inamdar said it would allow sharing of infrastructure saving duplication of facilities and funds. E M Khan,principal,Abeda Inamdar Senior College,Kiran Bhise,principal,Allana Pharmacy College,Mushtaque Mookadam,dean,Unani Medicine and Irfan Khan were present.
HSC exam marksheets on Nov 29
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has said that the marksheets of HSC students appeared for repeaters’ examination in September/October 2010 would be distributed to them at 3 pm on November 29 in junior colleges. According to secretary of MSBSHSE Shahaji Dhekne,the results were out on Monday and were available to students online. However,the mark sheets will be distributed next Monday. The students who have not cleared the examination in this attempt can fill up the application forms with regular fees till December 9 and with late fee till December 16. Students should submit their applications in their respective junior colleges, he said.
Seminar on FDI at university
The Department of Law,University of Pune,is organising a two-day national seminar on the November 28 and 29. The theme of the seminar is Foreign Direct Investment Problems and Perspectives. The seminar will be held at the Chandrasekhar Auditorium of IUCAA at university campus. Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia will grace the occasion as the chief guest for the seminar. In line with its reputation,to focus on contemporary socio-economic requirements and realities,the department over the years,has adopted a number of focus areas in its postgraduate programme. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is one of the key factors behind the present economic growth and development of the country and is expected to be playing an all the more important role in the future. The theme for this seminar was decided upon on understanding this importance of FDI in Indias growth. The broad objective of this seminar is to ensure an interaction,between academia and the corporate sector,to debate upon legal issues which are affecting the required growth in inflow of FDI and proper use of such FDI in India,keeping in mind the Constitutional goals to be achieved. The views which shall be put forward and the ideas which shall be conceptualised,at the seminar,will be compiled and presented to the ministry of commerce and industry for being considered during future policy making.
