While there are other tests which can help find this,Anti-Mullerian is said to the most accurate as it is independent of the phase of the menstrual cycle. “The other tests atre mostly intra-vaginal sonography tests.This is the simplest and most accurate,” says Dr Vipla Puri,Consultant,Laboratory Medicine,at Hinduja.

“With more and more women working these days,they want to plan their pregnancy. However,many a time delay can cause problems,with many ending up not conceiving at all. With the introduction of tests like these,they get to know for how much longer,or not,they can continue not being pregnant,” Dr Puri said.

The test can also determine whether a woman can conceive at all,even through IVF (In-vitro Fertilisation),“since the test calculates the ovarian reserve”,adds Dr Puri.

Since Hinduja introduced the test,many women have approached it,curious to know their fertile age. Most of them,says Dr Puri,are in their 30s.

Costing Rs 1,500,the test can be done only in laboratories which have an Elisa reader. “In Delhi there are no hospitals doing it,” says Dr Asha Sharma,Head,Obstetrics and Gynaecology,Rockland Hospital.
