  • The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of its e-governance project to the state government on Wednesday.

A Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission project, involving an investment of Rs 29 crore, it will simplify the process for procuring various licences, approvals and permissions. After receiving the nod from the state government, the project will also be sent to the Centre for its approval.

“The implementation of the e-governance project will not only simplify the functioning of the civic body, but also do away with the tedious manner in which the system functions, thereby making it easier for the public too,” said A C Sinha, Additional Municipal Commissioner. The project will be implemented by Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation Limited, he added.

As part of the project, anyone can apply for licences which are mandatory from the LMC, like registration of nursing homes, pathology and ice factories. “One can apply online for the registration under a particular head. The money required for the transaction can also be submitted online,” said Sinha.

So far, to approve construction maps for houses one had to take a string of approvals — from the LMC to Lucknow Development Authority. With the implementation of this system, one can apply

online and can seek the status of the construction maps within 15 days.

Assessment of properties under the LMC will also be a part of the project and change in the worth of the assets will be updated every year. Similarly, the provision of birth and death registration, property tax, public grievance redressal system, human resources, budget for urban poor and public private partnership system will also be included.

    ... contd.
