Electronic Service Delivery Bill to be sent to Cabinet soon

The Bill will make it mandatory to deliver public services only in electronic mode.

The government said it will soon send the Electronic Service Delivery Bill to the Cabinet for its approval.

The Electronic Service Delivery Bill,when enacted,will make it mandatory for every government organisation to deliver public services only in electronic mode from a cut off date.

“The Final Draft Bill will be circulated on April 11,2011 to ministries before seeking Cabinet approval,” Minister of Communications and Information Technology Kapil Sibal said,while discussing the Ministry’s 100-days action plan and achievements.

On the policy on mobile governance,Sibal said the CDAC has been mandated to develop a Mobile Service delivery gateway by September,2011.

Talking about the various steps taken to promote electronics manufacturing in the country,Sibal said an approval process for setting up a National Electronic Mission has been initiated.

While modifications in the Special Incentive Package Scheme (SIPS) to enhance investment in the electronic ecosystem are under process,a study on how to attract funds in semiconductor wafer fabrication units is also being conducted.

The government will also in various stages of finding vendors for the Department of Post for deployment of IT solutions for customer interaction,banking solution,postal life insurance solutions etc after extensive consultation with various stakeholders,Sibal said.
