England ground high-flying Windies

In a span of two days, the West Indies batting line up went from demolishing Sri Lanka to score 368 runs in 50 overs to getting bowled out for a paltry 101 by England in their final Group A clash at the Mumbai Cricket Association ground at Bandra-Kurla Complex. England chased the score down with six wickets and 15 overs to spare.

West Indies captain Merissa Aguilleira's decision to bat first on a moist wicket and in cloudy conditions backfired as only two West Indies batsmen got into double figures, with as many as six batswomen getting out for ducks. New ball bowler Anya Shrubsole (4/21) claimed career-best figures for England before opener Danielle Wyatt hit 40 to guide England home. The margin of the defeat had a damaging effect on West Indies' net run rate, which could come into play in deciding qualification from Group A.

West Indies had gone into their final group game with a healthy NRR of +1.040, it fell to +0.276 after the loss. They will have to wait on the result of India's match with Sri Lanka to determine their future in the tournament.

Katherine Brunt removed Kycia Knight with the second ball of the match before Shrubsole struck thrice. The run-out of Aguilleira was followed by Brunt having Deandra Dottin - who scored the fastest 50 in women's cricket on Sunday - caught behind, leaving the innings in tatters at 31 for 6.

Kyshona Knight and Shanel Daley spared some blushes for the West Indies with a partnership of 58 but Arran Brindle picked up three wickets for no runs in two overs to wrap up their innings.

In reply, Wyatt and Brindle put on 66 for the first wicket before Dottin took two in two balls. Four England wickets fell for 13 runs but Heather Knight struck three boundaries to make sure Charlotte Edwards, England's captain who had been feeling unwell, did not have to bat.
