Buoyed by its performance in the recent assembly elections, the BJP Tuesday rolled out its Modi for PM electoral programme for the next four months leading to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The plan included reaching out to 10 crore households in 450 constituencies across the country, with the aim of winning at least 272 seats on its own.

Only 120 days are left for the elections. We will devote 60 days for organisational preparations and 60 days for campaign, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters after a meeting the partys top leadership had with the central campaign committee and state unit chiefs and national office-bearers in the evening.

Party president Rajnath Singh, prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and senior leader Sushma Swaraj attended the meeting.

The next two months of organisational activities included: party workers reaching out to 10 crore households; starting a fund collection drive one vote, one note among its supporters; holding constituency-wise rally of 15,000-plus booth committee workers across 450 constituencies, and undertaking massive volunteer enrolment drive through india272.com; and a new voter enrolment drive in January.

These programmes were finalised at a meeting between the BJP parliamentary board and party chief ministers Raman Singh,Manohar Parrikar,Shivraj Chouhan and Vasundhara Raje earlier in the day.

BJPs Modi for PM campaign will be undertaken vigorously. We will reach 10 crore families. We are going to appeal to the electorate to give us vote as well as note under the one vote, one note campaign, party general secretary Ananth Kumar said after the meeting.

On the one vote, one note campaign,Kumar said,The minimum amount will be Rs 10 while the maximum limit is Rs 1,000. This voluntary contribution is an old BJP way of mobilisation practised in Gujarat and it was being stressed by Modis aide Amit Shah in Uttar Pradesh since he took charge of the state this year.

Addressing the partys central office-bearers,state unit chiefs and members of the 20 campaign sub-committees,Modi stressed that the party has the potential to surpass the Congress. Javadekar said Modi underlined that the BJP stood second in 106 constituencies last time with a total trail of about 89 lakh votes in seats where it lost out to the Congress.

Twelve crore new voters have been added in the past five years. The total trail is not even one crore voters in seats where Congress and BJP were in straight fight from among an estimated 80 crore voters for next elections, Javadekar quoted Modi as saying. The entire month of January will be devoted for the registration and felicitation of new voters.

Sushma Swaraj underscored the importance of local flavour based on regional situations during the campaign. The all India campaign should also have a local touch, Javadekar quoted Swaraj as saying at the meeting. Senior leaders L K Advani and Arun Jaitley, who also attended the meeting, however, did not address the gathering.
