Peti mafia,in a novel way,was trying to take their goods via Society cinema by breaking a wall at the railway station But Singh reached the spot and tried to stop them and was attacked.

Parampal Singh, deputy excise and taxation commissioner, said,“Although there were two IRB jawans with him at night hours, but still we need more police force at sensitive spots because frequency of such incidents is increasing. Our officer however did his best to stop the miscreants.”

Singh said that in the past few weeks they had seized more than 25 lakh worth goods being taken illegally from the railway station and surrounding areas and hence the peti mafia had found a new way via Society cinema to smuggle the goods out. Yesterday, however, there were only 4 containers being smuggled out.

Assistant excise and taxation commissioner T.S Sidhu said,“Maximum attacks happen at the railway station, with the latest incident being the second in three months.”

Meanwhile it needs to be mentioned that even excise and taxation commissioner A. Venuprasad had stated that they were losing excise tax worth crores because of non-cooperative attitude of the railway officials.Though the matter has been taken up with railway officials a number of times,it has not yielded any results, said the officer.

Meanwhile after this incident, the ETOs have made a case for enhanced security to avoid such incidents.
