Sitting and former MPs including Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and former Union Minister Shibu Soren owe more than Rs one crore as dues towards NDMC and MTNL charges and the Lok Sabha secretariat is finding itself helpless in recovering them as they are no more lawmakers.
New Delhi Municipal Council and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited have more than Rs 1.1 crore dues on 10 leaders of which nine have ceased to be the members of Lok Sabha hence no recovery is being made from their salaries.
The highest pending amount is on the late A B A Ghani Khan Chaudhary of Congress who had Rs 40.27 lakhs as dues of NDMC and 39.06 lakhs of MTNL against him but recovery was stopped after he passed away.
The secretariat is making deductions from monthly salary of Chinta Mohan,Congress MP from Tirupati who continues to be a member of the Lok Sabha,having dues of Rs 1.63 lakhs towards NDMC and 11.11 lakhs towards MTNL.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda has Rs 3.64 lakh worth of dues towards NDMC but since he ceased to be a member of Lok Sabha four years ago,recovery has been stopped.
“Monthly recovery was being made until he ceased to be the member of Lok Sabha and appointed as the Chief Minister of Haryana,” Lok Sabha secretariat said in an RTI reply.
