  • The silence, legal experts said, is itself a testament to how bold the court’s ruling is. “It’s not about sex or sexual orientation but about civil rights and the strengthening of our democracy,” said one. “This is a vindication of the rights of a discriminated minority (gays) but because of our tradition where sexuality remains in the closet and is never a political, public issue, it will take time for the message to sink in.”

Congratulations India, but majority still against the amendmentBy: Bhavishya Goel | 03-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward Honestly, I very much doubt that this decision will carry through. And it's not because of the conservative bunch at helm. It's because of the common man, who still sees homosexual as queer and abnormal! And I am not talking about the rural folks. I am talking about the young lot of engineers in the top IT companies. If majority of these top of the crop think so about the homosexuals, I don't see how the government can go against the tide and uphold court's decision. But hope is all I can have at this point of time and hope I will!
