  • A day-long workshop on ‘Communication and the art of selling — understanding the dynamics of selling’ was orgainsed by the British Library here on Sunday. Senior executives of various companies attended the workshop. A global corporate coach and trainer, Smarth Bali, was the resource person on the occasion.

“The whole idea of organising this kind of workshop was to re-sensitise participants, as communication is a neglected area not only in the corporate sector but also in education institutes that are mushrooming all over,” Bali said.

The workshop was divided into eight different interactive sessions.

Issues like how to improve relationships at the workplace, enhance understanding of body language, better negotiation skills, understanding conflict and resolution and relate better with personality types, were discussed at length.

Bali said, “It is very important to teach communication and interpersonal skills at the education level itself. Today, the corporate world is having a tough time due to a poor quality of students being churned out from institutes of IT, medicine and even MBA.”

The workshop was designed to enhance dialogue aimed at exploring communication strategies for effective selling.
