Expelled BJP leaders term decision unconstitutional

The leaders of the city unit of Bharatiya Janata Party who were expelled for alleged anti-party activities in a joint statement issued on Friday said that the action taken by the state president of BJP, Chandigarh to expel them is unconstitutional and is in contravention of the party constitution.

Those expelled include former BJP general secretary and spokesperson Bal Krishan Kapoor, former Mayor K K Addiwal and former councillor Anil Dubey.

The expelled leaders stated that the state president has no power to expel them without offering them any chance to explain their side and without giving them any prior notice. They will soon be filing an appeal with the BJP high command against the expulsion.

They said that complaints from hundreds of party workers were being received during the last few days that the details of the membership were not being provided to them despite their repeated request.

They alleged that the election of Samitis and Mandals were conducted so silently and secretly that even the elected councillors and senior leaders were not aware of these organizational election.

Justifying the protest that was held at the party office, the three stated that the main objective was only to urge the state president that the organizational election of Chandigarh BJP should be conducted fairly and transparently. Instead of complying with the constitution of the party they were expelled.

It has been a complaint of the leaders that during the last one year, not even a single meeting of state executive, nor a meeting of the core committee has been convened which are essential for taking important decisions.
